In collaboration with Google, DHEC participants get access to some of Google's best AI tools at no cost. This partnership is designed to power your design and build phase, giving you the cutting-edge technology needed to bring your AI-driven health solutions to life.
The DHEC 2026 Journey: 5 Weeks to Impact
Week 1: Ideation & Validation (Discovery)
This is the foundation. We empower you with a reference framework to refine your AI-driven idea, build capacity, and ensure you're solving a problem that matters. You will learn to perform deep competitor analysis, validate your AI/data-centric assumptions, and create a digital value wireframe for your solution.
Week 2: Design Sprint (Solution Design)
Following your validation, this week is an intensive 5-day design sprint. Using the Google AI toolset, you will move from ideation to tangible solutions, creating user personas, mapping out user journeys, and building your first low-fidelity prototypes for your AI-powered app or service. This week culminates in Demo Day One.
Week 3: BUILD (The AI/Data MVP)
This is where the code meets the concept. You will be onboarded into a building mindset, focusing on developing your AI-powered Minimum Viable Product (MVP). This phase will be powered by the Google AI tools you were onboarded to, allowing you to build, test, and iterate on your core data-driven product. We'll cover agile development, data governance, and the technical steps to create a functional landing page.
Week 4: LAUNCH (Go-to-Market)
Your product is built—now it's time to find its users. This launch phase is an external-facing challenge focused on community engagement, brand building, and sustainable revenue models for data-first companies. You will define your launch strategy, and this week concludes with Demo Day Two.
Week 5: Showcase & Pitch (Demo Day 3)
The final week. This is your platform to graduate from builder to AI entrepreneur. You will perfect your pitch, consolidate your work, and present your AI/data venture to a panel of experts, investors, and healthcare leaders. The theme is "The DHE Journey Forward".
How to Join the Challenge
Admission to the DHEC is a two-part process: gaining admission to the cohort and registering for your build-phase tools.
Path 1: Automatic Admission
RECOMMENDED
- AIDLC 2026 finishers guaranteed automatic admission
- AIDLC 2025 cohort pre-qualified and eligible
Path 2: Competitive Selection
LIMITED SPOTS
- Open to public (non-AIDLC participants)
- Based on AI/data background, idea viability, and mission alignment
Part 2: Mandatory AI Tool Onboarding
Once you have been admitted to the DHEC 2026 cohort (via Path 1 or Path 2), all participants must register to receive access to the Google AI tools that will power the challenge. This is a requirement for participating in Weeks 2 and 3.
